About Us
Blackest Bird
Blackest Bird is a theatre show that combines live music, movement and film to tell the story of 3 young black women who were let down by colonial systems still in effect in Toronto, Canada.
The show seamlessly blends music, storytelling, dance, and film. Rooted in social justice and a celebration of the profound beauty within human relationships, this multi-disciplinary performance is captivating.
More than a show, Blackest Bird is a dynamic exploration of the human experience, carefully crafted to spark conversations around equality and kindness. The stories of the 3 women are powerful, confronting and moving. Though difficult, it's portrayed beautifully through the combination of the arts mediums.
As the creator, along with the help of Ins Choi (Kim's Convenience) as dramaturg, we are bringing a unique vision to the stage, inviting audiences into a world where every note, every word, and every movement carries a message. The show transcends traditional boundaries, offering a thought-provoking and emotionally charged experience that resonates long after the final curtain.
At the heart of "Blackest Bird" is a commitment to fostering empathy and understanding. Through the intersection of diverse artistic mediums, the performance explores the intricacies of our shared humanity, confronting social issues with a vision for positive change. The narrative unfolds with a sense of urgency, inviting the audience to contemplate the collective responsibility we hold in shaping a more just and compassionate world.
